Changes to the license models

What DALICC changed in its curated models, when, and why.

A license model is corrected when a reading of the legal text turns out to be wrong. Every correction changes what the compatibility checker answers, so each change below names the reason behind it and links to the record it was made on.

This port licenses database rights in its own words, so the asset type is text supported rather than merely plausible. Article 3(e) grants a database right outright: "lorsque l'Oeuvre est une base de donnees, extraire et reutiliser des parties substantielles de l'Oeuvre". The preamble also names the "droits des producteurs de bases de donnees" among the rights protecting the work. Added dcmitype:Dataset.

This port licenses database rights in its own words, so the asset type is text supported rather than merely plausible. Ziffer 1 counts a database among the objects of a related right: a "verwandtes Schutzrecht" is the right in a protected subject matter other than a work, "zum Beispiel einem nachgelassenen Werk, einem Lichtbild, einer Datenbank, einem Schallträger, einer Rundfunksendung, einem Laufbild oder einer Darbietung eines ausübenden Künstlers", and the Schutzgegenstand offered under the licence is the work, the collection or the object of such a related right. Ziffer 4 and Ziffer 7 name "eine Datenbank" next to an adaptation and a collection. Added dcmitype:Dataset.

    Review finding Clause 1(c) grants the right "to distribute or communicate copies of the Original Work and Derivative Works to the public, under any license of your choice that does not contradict the terms and conditions ... in this Academic Free License". That is exactly dalicc:ChangeLicense with a dalicc:compliantLicense duty, the pattern Apache-2.0 and the Common Development and Distribution License use. Added.

  • Free Public License 1.0.0 version 2 2026-09-24

    removed Prohibition: Share alike

    Review finding The text reads in full: "Permission to use, copy, modify, and/or distribute this software for any purpose with or without fee is hereby granted." A prohibition of cc:ShareAlike asserts that a licensee may not put the work out under these same terms, which the unconditional grant contradicts. cc:ShareAlike is a duty term; a license that is silent about relicensing must carry no share-alike statement at all. Removed. Flagged by the family conventions checked before the review.
