DEVELOPMENT VERSION: This is an experimental DALICC environment. Features, data and APIs may change or be reset without notice. A stable version of this service, with a potentially different feature set, will be made available soon at dalicc.net.

Changes to the license models

What DALICC changed in its curated models, when, and why.

A license model is corrected when a reading of the legal text turns out to be wrong. Every correction changes what the compatibility checker answers, so each change below names the reason behind it and links to the record it was made on.

  • PHP License 3.0 version 2 2026-09-24

    removed Prohibition: Share alike

Manual edit The review's finding on family consistency and consolidation decision 7: the record prohibited dalicc:addStatement although clause 6 requires a statement to be retained, and prohibited cc:ShareAlike without support. Clause 6 reads 'Redistributions of any form whatsoever must retain the following acknowledgment: \"This product includes PHP software, freely available from <http://www.php.net/software/>\"', which is the dalicc:advertisingAcknowledgement duty, and clause 5 lets the licensee move to any later version the PHP Group publishes.

  • PHP License 3.0 version 2 2026-09-24

changed Permission: Distribute, with the duties Attribution, Notice, Advertising acknowledgement

was Permission: Distribute, with the duties Attribution, Notice

Manual edit The review's finding on family consistency and consolidation decision 7: the record prohibited dalicc:addStatement although clause 6 requires a statement to be retained, and prohibited cc:ShareAlike without support. Clause 6 reads 'Redistributions of any form whatsoever must retain the following acknowledgment: \"This product includes PHP software, freely available from <http://www.php.net/software/>\"', which is the dalicc:advertisingAcknowledgement duty, and clause 5 lets the licensee move to any later version the PHP Group publishes.

  • PHP License 3.0 version 2 2026-09-24

added Permission: Change license, with the duties Use a compliant license

Manual edit Permit relicensing on permissive licences; the notice clause is a duty, not a bar. Library convention 15: a licence that asks for no reciprocity and no source code asks only that the notice travels with the copy, which is a duty on the acts it governs and not a bar on putting the copy under other terms. dalicc:ChangeLicense is therefore a permission here, and the prohibition the record carried before is removed. The text reads: "Redistribution and use in source and binary forms, with or without modification, is permitted provided that the following conditions are met: 1. Redistributions of source code must retain the above copyright notice, this list of conditions and the following disclaimer." The permission carries the dalicc:compliantLicense duty, as Apache-2.0 does, because the notice has to survive the relicensing.
